Item System, Inventory and Shop!


Now that the development of Cardboy's main game loop has concluded, auxillery systems have had more time to develop.

Introducing.... items!

Players can now find and pickup two different consumables throughout the gameworld, the health and mana potions. The main functionality is to act as a replenishment to the limited resources accessible to the player, allowing a moment of rest between combat. They've been implemented in engine through scriptable objects, meaning it is an extremely dynamic system that makes development of further items a breeze, so more may be on its way! These potions can also be accessed and used at any point in the game through the newly developed inventory system, hitting [TAB] whilst in the game will show the player a list of their currently collected items and gives the option to use them whenever necessary.

These new items can now also be purchased from the newly added shop system where, in exchange for coins, the player can spend the rewards reaped from combat encounters. Each area is planned to have its own unique store, with its own prices and stock that the user can review.
